GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that from and after the 22nd Instaut, the Fees chargeable under Section XI of Ordinance No. 5 of 1845 will be strictly vied at this Office, and that no Certificates, Licenses, Shipping permits, or other documents to which the Official Signature of His Excellency the GOVERNOR or of the COLONIAL SECRETARY is required, will be issued Without payment of the authorized Fees, excepting such Licenses or other documents as have been ready subjected to the payment of Fees or other charges into the Colonial Treasury,

The Fee on the GOVERNOR'S Signature under COLONIAL SECRETARY $2.

Colonial Secretary's Office, Hongkong, 16th August, 1864.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATON,

W. T. MERCER, Colonial Secretary.

Notice is hereby given that after 1st January next all Owners of Houses or Huts situated on Crown Laud, not Leased, in the Colony of Hongkong will be required to hold Squatter's Licenses.

These Squatter's Licenses will be made out on application at the Surveyor General's Office during the months of November and December next, the Licensee will be required to pay One Year's Rent in advance to the Registrar General at his Office in Victoria, on receipt of which the Licenses will be handed over.

The Licenses received will hold good for the year 1865 only.

All occupiers of cultivated Crown Land will be required to hold Squatters Licenses which can

be obtained in the same way,

The Police will have strict orders after the month of January next to remove all Houses or Huts the owners of which cannot produce a proper License when called upon.
